SIUC alum leads scene painting workshop in Carbondale

CARBONDALE -- The Stage Company is offering a scene painting workshop from 6-9 p.m. on June 28 and 29 at the Carbondale Community Arts Artspace 304 on West Walnut Street.

The artist leading the workshop is Stage Company and SIUC alum M.K. Hughes. She graduated from SIUC with an MFA in Set Design in 2015, has worked at theaters across the country and is currently employed by Point Park University's Pittsburgh Playhouse.

According to Stage Company publicist Sam Foskey, attendees will learn to paint wood and other textures as well as foliage, and learn theatrical techniques that can be adapted for film, and museum/retail displays.

There are spaces available to participants, age 13 and up, for the two-evening workshop. Cost to attend is $15 for Stage Company members and $20 for the general public.

All materials will be supplied. All participants need to bring is clothes in which you can paint.
