MARION -- A unique hybrid medical clinic was showcased for public viewing late Tuesday afternoon at an open house at 2700 W. DeYoung St. The clinic is part of a new venture by Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.

Facility Director Brandi Meyer explained its origin.

"When our CEO, Melisa Adkins, came back to Marion a year and a half ago to be our leader, she had a vision she brought with her from her time in Tennessee. That (vision) was to build a truly hybrid clinic here in Marion. It encompasses not just an express care walk-in type clinic, but family practice and occupational medicine clinic for employers, as well."

Meyer called the new approach, a one-stop shop.

"Our model allows for a seamless handoff between the urgent care/occupational health setting and the primary care provider for the appropriate follow-up," she said.

The clinic features an in-house lab and state-of-the-art digital X-ray equipment. Heartland opened the clinic for business Wednesday in Marion.

"Anybody should be able to come here for most any health care need, as long it doesn't require an emergency room visit," Meyer said.

Occupation education and urgent care will likely provide the greatest need for imaging, according to Meyer.

"Also our lab will be open for anyone in the community with orders from any of the doctors in our group or outside of our group."

Dr. Jodi Bryant is a family practice physician who will head up the family medicine part of the new clinic. She, along with Dr. Tara Robbins, will frequently be on site during the clinic's regular hours.

"From the medical professionals to the equipment -- to the layout of the building itself -- our new clinic was designed to maximize continuity of care," Meyer said.

The lab will be open from 7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday.

The express care hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week and family practice will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
