MOUNT CARMEL -- Mark Friday's defeat to Wabash Valley in the "tough loss" category for the John A. Logan College women's basketball squad.
The Lady Vols led at the first, second and third quarter breaks only to fall back in the final stanza, losing 81-71.
"It was a tough loss, but I was proud of how hard and well we played against a nationally-ranked team like Wabash," said JALC second-year head coach Amanda Shelby. "We put up a good fight and had our chance to win. That's all I could ask."
Freshman Destiny Cozart paced Logan scorers with 16 points. The season's leading scorer, sophomore Tiaunna Watkins, followed with 15. Freshman Lyric Campbell added 12 off the bench.
With the loss, Logan completes the regular season with a mark of 15-12 and Great Rivers Athletic Conference play at 11-7. The 13th-ranked Warriors improved to 17-1 in the league and 28-1 overall.
The Vols will now host Shawnee College at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the quarterfinal round of the Region 24 tournament. The semifinals and finals will be hosted by Rend Lake College.
