Three West Frankfort residents were injured when their vehicle veered off of Interstate 64 in Washington County.
The Illinois State Police report Austin Williams, 20; Jack Stanley, 45; Jessica Stanley, 20; and Jolene Stanley, 41, all of West Frankfort, were injured in the incident around 11:05 a.m. Tuesday. Also in the vehicle was Melissa Hadden, 35, of Meeker, Colo. Williams and Jack Stanley were apparently uninjured. The others were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the preliminary investigation indicates the Ford Explorer in which the group was traveling was on I-64 eastbound near milepost 38 when the driver's rear tire failed. The driver, Williams, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to drive off the roadway right before overturning and coming to final rest.
The vehicle was towed from the scene. Williams was cited for operation of an uninsured vehicle.
