Logan turns back Blue Storm

CARTERVILLE -- Carbondale's Allen Billinger scored 16 points to lead the John A. Logan College men's basketball team to a 78-55 rout of Southwestern Illinois College on Tuesday night.

Logan is now 23-6 overall and 14-3 in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference. The victory secured at least a share of the conference championship with one game remaining in the regular season.

Jalen Perry added 13 points and both Jerome Davis and Emile Lewis had 11 for the Vols, who have won 12 of their last 13 games.

Logan, which led by 18 at halftime, swept the season series from the Storm after winning 69-59 in the first meeting in Belleville. The Vols held the Storm to 17 points in the first half of that meeting and didn't allow more than 23 points in either half Monday night.

SWIC (13-16, 9-10) was led by Jaalam Hill's 22 points. Christopher Williams had 12.

Logan's women also won, 69-55, and are now 15-11 overall and 11-6 in GRAC play.

Lyric Campbell led the Lady Vols with a career-high 17 points. Daisha Foster added 13.

Madisyn Sherake had 24 points for SWIC (10-16, 5-11).

The Vols play at Wabash Valley College in Mt. Carmel on Friday night.
