Saline County Soil and Water Conservation District holds its 68th annual meeting 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Eldorado High School cafeteria.

There is no charge to attend the annual meeting, but to those sharing the meal will need a ticket, according to a release from SWCD. Tickets are available from local banks free of charge, or may be purchased at the door for $10 each.

SWCD encourages those planning planning on eating to get tickets from the bank early; as the day of the meeting is a holiday and the banks will be closed. All of the banks in the county purchased tickets this year. Those banks are Old National, Legence, Farmers, Peoples, 1st Southern, Banterra and Grand Rivers Community Bank. The banks help defray costs for the annual meeting. SWCD asks those visiting banks to request tickets to thank them for their help. Other business who also purchased tickets for their customers this year were, Bunge Grain, Hutson Equipment Inc, H & R Agri-power and Southeastern IL Electric Co-operative. If not for their sponsorship the district could not provide this type of meeting for the agriculture community.

This year the board has again chosen to not have a speaker. Several of the faces are changing in the office; some have retired and there are new employees as well. The district hopes for a good attendance to say goodbye to the retirees, and welcome to the “newbies.”

There will be a short meeting, honoring of the fifth grade county poster winner, the high school essay contest winners and the conservation farmer of the year.

The evening closes with a drawing for door prizes.
