State’s Attorney Evan L. Owens, in a prepared statement, Monday afternoon said an arrest warrant issued Friday and a search warrant served on a local business “is still considered under investigation.”
Owens said an information was filed Friday by his office and an arrest warrant was issued for Erin Williams, a clerk working at The Smoke Break in Benton.
Owens said Williams was charged with four counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance analog within 1,000 feet of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Benton. Each charge, he said, is a Class 2 felony.
In his statement Owens said a search warrant for The Smoke Break was obtained based on an investigatiopn conducted by the Benton Police Department and the Illinois State Police.
He said the search was made by Benton, West City and state police and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department. He did not indicate if any item of interest to investigators was found in the search.
