The Illinois Sheriffs’ Association will be awarding more than $53,000 in college scholarships throughout the state to students wishing to pursue higher education during the 2013-2014 academic year.
The student must be enrolled full-time at a certified institution of higher learning within the state of Illinois.
Franklin County Sheriff Donald R. Jones will be awarding a $500 scholarship.
There is no restriction on any applicant by reason of race, age, creed, color, sex or national origin.
The only limitations are: applicants must be permanent Illinois residents, scholarships are to be utilized at state of Illinois institutions of higher learning, and students must be enrolled as a full time student during the 2013-2014 school year, excluding summer session.
Applications are available at local sheriff’s offices or the internet at www.ilsheriff.org. Students must complete the application, answer the essay question and return all documentation to the Sheriff’s Office, 403 E. Main St., Benton, IL 62812 before March 15 (must be postmarked by this date).
