  • Franklin County Coroner Marty Leffler was notified of a fatal single-car accident at 5:26 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 26.
Brooke M. (Bolen) Brown of Christopher, 20, died in the crash that occurred at the intersection of Lincoln Road and Izaac Walton Road north of Buckner.
A 911 call came in to Franklin County Sheriff Department at 4:36 a.m. of a car on its roof in a field, with a non-responsive female victim trapped inside.
It appeared the driver was traveling south on Lincoln Road at a high rate of speed when she lost control.
The vehicle went airborne just north of the intersection, eventually flipped, and came to rest on its roof.
From the point that the vehicle left the roadway and became airborne, it traveled approximately 60 feet.
Franklin County Sheriff deputies, Buckner and Benton fire departments, and Abbott EMS responded and discovered Brown inside the vehicle.
Leffler arrived on scene and pronounced the woman deceased.
Brown’s Illinois driver’s license and other identification were located and her family was notified. Her body was transported to the Franklin Hospital Morgue where X-rays and specimens for toxicology were taken.
After reviewing the X-rays, evidence showed Brown died from blunt force trauma to the head. Alcohol and drug paraphernalia were present in the wreckage.
Brown was wearing a seatbelt, according to the accident report.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Gilbert Funeral Home of Christopher.
The sheriff’s and coroner’s offices are investigating the crash.
