    • Free Rules of the Road review course, 9:30 to 11 am., Benton Senior Center, 104 N. 10th St., Benton. Purpose of the course is to help participants pass the Illinois driver’s license renewal examination. The course prepares applicants for the general written and road examinations, and also provides information on the vision screening.
     
     
    Saturday, Jan. 26
    •Benton junior wrestling club hosting "stuff a truck" event at Stark Total Body Fitness and Tanning in Rend Lake Plaza in West City, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Accepting coats and non-perishable canned goods for Benton-West City Ministerial Alliance food pantry. Terry Baker Excavating providing the truck.

    • The Franklin County Soil and Water Conservation District Open House, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., USDA Service Center, 711 N. DuQuoin St., Benton. Excellent opportunity to meet your local soil and water conservation district staff and learn of the various programs and resources. General election of two directors will take place during this event. Annual reports available; refreshments served. Monthly board meeting will be held immediately following the open house and election at 6 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the open house will be postponed to Feb. 19, 2013.
