  • Lou Ellen Denham, 61, of Lynchburg, Va., formerly of Logan, passed away at 10:08 a.m. Sunday, July 1, 2012, at her home in Virginia after a courageous six-month battle with liver disease, with her friend Kandace by her side.
    Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. followed by services Saturday, July 28, at Harvester Fellowship Tabernacle, 509 S. Odle, West Frankfort.
    Memorial contributions may be made to the daughter at the time of the services or mailed to Linda Houseworth, 2511 S. Illinois Ave. #9, Carbondale, IL 62903.
    Lou was born on Aug. 10, 1950, in Akin, the daughter of Raymond and Clara (Carter) Summers.
    Lou loved listening to Gospel music, being with family, cooking, collecting knives and taking care of others.
    She is survived by daughter Linda and husband Chuck of Carbondale; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Juanita Barlow and Fay Booker, both of Akin, and Donna McEndree of Logan; nieces and nephews; and countless friends and family.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Teresa Reed; mother- and father-in-law, Ira and Lorene Denham; and special brother-in-law, Jim Booker.
