Five Sesser residents were injured in a single-vehicle accident east of Sesser Monday night.

According to a report by the Franklin County Sheriff's Department, the accident occurred at 7:47 p.m. on Bannister Road approximately half a mile north of Route 154.

Danielle N. Waldrop, 20, of Sesser was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo and lost control of the vehicle.

"She was driving too fast on a spot in the road known as 'tickle hill,'" Capt. Don Jones said. "She said she was unfamiliar with the road.

"The vehicle was destroyed by fire, but everyone was able to get out," Jones said.

Waldrop was ticketed for violation of driver's license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

She and four passengers -- Jennifer L. Miller, 12; Misty D. Miller, 16; Rachel E. Slack, 14; and James T. Boguskie, 16, all of Sesser -- were transported to the Franklin Hospital in Benton with what Jones called non-life-threatening injuries.

All but one were treated and released, Jones said.
